Lactation Support That Sees the Whole Picture

Where IBCLCs Meet Craniosacral Therapy
Your First Appointment

What to Expect

Our IBCLC takes time to understand your complete story:

  • Your pregnancy and birth experience—how your baby came into the world matters
  • Current feeding challenges—what you’re experiencing and how long it’s been happening
  • Your baby’s body patterns—tension, preferences, compensations she can observe
  • Feeding observation—watching a full feed to see latch, transfer, and your baby’s behavior
  • Whole-body evaluation—identifying restrictions that may need CST to address

You're not failing. Your baby's body needs help releasing restrictions.

When breastfeeding is painful or your baby struggles to latch, the issue often isn't about technique—it's about what happened during birth and how your baby's body is holding tension.

Signs Your Baby Would Benefit From Our Approach

Integrated Treatment

During the session, we provide:

  • Lactation support for positioning, latch optimization, and milk transfer
  • Parent education so you understand what’s happening in your baby’s body
  • At-home techniques you can use between sessions
  • Clear action plan for moving forward
Follow-Up Support

Bodies release restrictions over time. We provide:

  • Follow-up sessions as needed (usually 2-4 sessions for most families)
  • Email and phone support between visits
  • Referrals when needed to our SLP for oral motor work or other specialists

We work as a team: lactation optimizes feeding mechanics while CST releases birth restrictions, treating root causes.

CST + Lactation Support

Our lactation consultant isn’t just certified IBCLC—She is trained in craniosacral therapy. This means she can identify when feeding struggles are rooted in your baby’s body, not just feeding technique.

The Connection Between Birth and Feeding

Birth is intense. Your baby’s body experienced significant compression coming through the birth canal—or in the case of cesarean birth. Compression creates restrictions in the jaw, neck, shoulders, and throughout the body.

These restrictions directly affect your baby’s ability to:

  • Open their mouth wide enough for a deep latch
  • Turn their head comfortably to both sides
  • Coordinate sucking, swallowing, and breathing
  • Sustain the effort feeding requires without exhaustion
  • Stay calm and organized during feeds

The Missing Piece in Traditional Lactation Support

Most lactation consultants focus on positioning, latch technique, and milk transfer. These are important—but they’re not the whole story.

If your baby’s body is holding tension from birth, no amount of repositioning will fix the underlying restriction. That’s where our integrated approach makes all the difference.
