Where IBCLCs Meet Craniosacral Therapy
Your First Appointment

What to Expect

Our IBCLC takes time to understand your complete story:

Your session includes:

    • Your birth and feeding history, because how your baby came into the world affects how they feed
    • A full feeding observation at the breast or bottle
    • Assessment of your baby’s body patterns, including tension, preferences, and how they are compensating
    • Hands on support with positioning and latch
    • A clear explanation of what Jessica is seeing and why
    • A plan for moving forward with specific next steps
    • At home techniques you can use between sessions

Signs Your Baby Would Benefit From Our Approach

How Jessica Works

Most lactation support focuses on technique: how you hold the baby, how you shape the latch, how you time the feeds. That matters. But if your baby’s body is holding tension from birth, repositioning alone will not fix the underlying problem.

Jessica works alongside our craniosacral therapy team. She understands how restrictions in your baby’s jaw, neck, and body affect their ability to latch deeply, maintain suction, coordinate swallowing, and stay calm during feeds. When she identifies tension or restriction during a session, she connects you with our CST practitioners so both the feeding mechanics and the physical root cause are addressed together.

That is the difference between adjusting technique and actually solving the problem.

Lactation optimizes feeding mechanics while CST releases birth restrictions, treating root causes.

CST + Lactation Support

Our lactation consultant isn’t just certified IBCLC—She is trained in craniosacral therapy. This means she can identify when feeding struggles are rooted in your baby’s body, not just feeding technique.

The Connection Between Birth and Feeding

Birth is intense. Your baby’s body experienced significant compression coming through the birth canal—or in the case of cesarean birth. Compression creates restrictions in the jaw, neck, shoulders, and throughout the body.

These restrictions directly affect your baby’s ability to:

  • Open their mouth wide enough for a deep latch
  • Turn their head comfortably to both sides
  • Coordinate sucking, swallowing, and breathing
  • Sustain the effort feeding requires without exhaustion
  • Stay calm and organized during feeds

Follow Up Support

What Happens After Your First Session

Feeding changes take time. Most families see Jessica for 2 to 4 sessions. Between visits, you have email and phone support so you are not figuring it out alone.

When your baby needs additional support, Jessica refers directly to our in house team: CST for releasing physical restrictions, or our feeding and oral motor therapist for oral function concerns. No waiting for outside referrals. No retelling your story at a new clinic.
